Black Cabs in London
Black taxicabs that are licensed for the area within the M25 motorway are referred
to as hackney carriages. Traditionally these cabs are all black in colour although more colourful variations sporting advertising have become commonplace. London uses
specially designed cabs produced by LTI. These cabs can carry up to six passengers
in the back. Luggage goes in the back with passengers or up front next to the driver.
Black cabs are fitted to accommodate wheelchairs and are reputed to be able to turn on only a circle of 25 feet.
